This reflective article describes the emotional journey I embarked upon whilst training as a student midwife. I will consider both the positive and negative experiences I encountered throughout my training and discuss the evidence regarding relationships between student midwives and their mentors. My training was a emotional rollercoaster : at times happy or excited, at others, sad, exhausted or scared. However, I feel both proud and privileged to tell people I am a midwife. Recently, I was invited to the university where I trained, to speak at their student midwife conference about my journey. I discussed the difficulties that I encountered as a student midwife and the difficulties other student midwives may face. |
