Résumé : |
Evidence-based practice should be the foundation of midwifery care. Women and their families deserve, and should demand, care that takes their preferences into account and is based on the best available evidence.
Sources of midwifery knowledge fall into three categories: tradition, clinical experience and scientific research. To achieve evidence-based care midwives must be able to identify sources of knowledge and choose those that are most reliable. Although experience and intuition are key midwifery skills, they should not be the basis for care and midwives should seek the highest quality research for decision making (Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) 2018). |
