The West Sussex maternal opt-out, midwifery-led smoking cessation service aims to reduce the number of pregnant women smoking through nicotine replacement therapy and psychological support.
Between February 2020—December 2020, 228 pregnant women were referred, and 130 women have completed the programme. There is a 32 per cent self-confirmed quit rate (41/130) of those who have finished the 12-week SmokeFree programme. Smoking status at delivery is documented for 77 of the women, as of December 2020; of these, 23 per cent (18/77) had confirmed quits on delivery notes. |
