| Résumé : | Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is an umbrella term for two main conditions — ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. IBD is a long-term condition, which is unpredictable and can lead to debilitating flares. IBD increases the risk of preterm birth, small for gestation age babies, caesarean section and gestational diabetes (if corticosteroids are used to manage or treat the IBD). These are discussed in Janiszewski (2023): Inflammatory bowel disease and pregnancy: an overview of anatomy and physiology. |
